4 Living's Autumn Interior FAQ's

Every season has its own characteristics, which can create some unexpected challenges. We've made a little list of frequently asked questions to help with some common autumn interior problems!
-Wet shoes and mulchy leaves are making a lot of mess, is there any way to protect my floor
-Ah, autumn leaves. Honestly, there's little to no point in trying to protect your floor. Even if you can stop your floor getting damaged, you won't be able to stop it getting dirty. Get a good, solid door-mat and buy some mega-comfy slippers to wear inside!
-I'm redesigning my interior at the moment, and I'm a little worried it won't be finished by Christmas. What should my plan of action be?
-Christmas? This year has gone quickly! Designing an interior will almost always take longer than you estimate, so it's better to avoid such a strict deadline. I would suggest completely finishing communal areas, such as the living room or dining room, which will be useful during the festive season.
-My wooden/stone flooring looks great, but is starting to get a little cold. Any ideas?
-You now have an excuse to get a beautiful contemporary rug! A rug will add a sense of warmth to your home during the winter months, as well as enable you to give your home an injection of vibrant colour.
-I want my home to feel a little cosier or autumn, but don't want to interfere with the minimalistic, contemporary design of the interior. How can I balance the two?
-The most important factor here is 'space'. Filling space will give the impression of a smaller, cosier and more intimate environment, whilst smooth surfaces and open spaces are more conducive to a stripped back sense of minimalism.
Try keeping surfaces such as sideboards and coffee table clutter-free, whilst adding rugs to the floor and cushions/blankets to the seating. This way you will gain a sense of warmth, but maintain your distinctive contemporary style.
-What are the biggest interior trends going to be over next few months?
-Rustic, weathered wood seems to be having a little resurgence at the moment. The 'shabby chic' look is great but has become incredibly popular, so people are looking for an even more stripped back and natural style.
I also feel like bow ties are going to be big. My crystal ball says so!
