Check out our newest video: the beautiful 'Wave' solid oak sideboard.
As with all of Ethnicraft's pieces it has its own unique character, as well as tremendous versatility. The contemporary clean lines of the Wave sideboard allow it to look fantastic in a contemporary room setting, whilst the general shape of the piece has its roots in a more retro design. you can certainly see some sort of connection between the Ethnicraft Wave sideboard and retro styles such as this. the modular design of the cupboards and drawers are clearly inspired by 70's styles, but have been given the 'contemporary treatment' The solid oak board, running the whole way around the sideboard, helps to create a a visually balanced piece. With drawers only being on one side, the symmetry of the 'border' really helps with the overall aesthetic of the sideboard.
A low sideboard, although unconventional, can be a really useful and versatile piece of furniture. If a surface is that far below eye level, you will see more wall which instantly gives the impression of more space within the room. This technique can be especially useful in a smaller home, where a large sideboard might look a little imposing.
This low sideboard can also double up as a TV unit, which is why Ethnicraft have even taken the trouble to put wiring holes in the back! very clever, those Belgians. The modular storage spaces are perfect for storing DVDs, CDs, digital boxes etc.
The possibilities are endless(ish).
