5 Ways To Create A Classy And Stylish Man-Cave

Interior design, unfairly, is often considered more of a female pursuit. The attention to detail and colour-matching might not be every gentleman's favourite past-time, but that doesn't mean they can't engage with the process. You'll also see most interiors magazines targeted quite obviously at women. We've decided to put an end to this, and give men a chance to make a part of the home their own.

Here are out top 10 tips for creating the perfect man-cave:

It's a man-cave, not a teenager's bedroom - house1_705940a

Whether your man-cave is a games room, living room, office or bedroom, you still have to treat it with respect. Creating your own interior gives you the opportunity to create your own ideal style and atmosphere, so don't mess it up! This is still interior design, and still requires an awful lot of work and attention to detail!

Keep it old school

There's something exceptionally warm and comforting about a 'throwback' interior, which makes it one of the best suited styles to adopt for your man-cave. The word 'cave' should be a warm and safe environment, as opposed to a damp, dark... cave?.

Do something personal

Sometimes it's the simple ideas that are the most effective. This home made CD wall perfectly exemplifies how you don't have to be a professional designer or a millionaire in order to express yourself in an interesting and aesthetically pleasing way. What's more manly than rock albums into a wall!

Make TV Viewing an Optional Luxury

Whether you're watching the big game or the evening news, watching some TV is always going to be a big part of the perfect man-cave. We've also seen these 'proper bloke' TV rooms with a television the side of a wall, and little else. Your contemporary man cave should be a social hub. That's not saying that you can't watch a film with your friends but, at the same time, it should still be a social experience.

Go for a slightly smaller TV in order to prioritise socialising and other activities within the room; it really does work. Alternatively, if you're adamant on having a big telly, you might be better off keeping it behind cabinet doors. A TV cabinet will enable you to enjoy your viewing experiences, as and when is necessary.

Do.It.Your.Self

You'd be surprised how many different things can be made without too much previous experience being required. Whether you're attaching metal caster wheels to a old pallet to form an industrial coffee table or hand-crafting a solid oak bar, there is a great sense of achievement and pride to be found in creating parts of your man cave for yourself.
