An Evolving Home

An Evolving Home

I think it's quite hard to go by a 'trend' in furniture. For me, furniture should last, be functional and be designed with perfection and quality. It's both modern - and timeless !

I believe the most rewarding way to invest in ones home, is by choosing a piece that one can appreciate and love. The furniture you decorate your home with is not only there to make the place look nice. It will make part of a story in your home. It contributes to a feeling and atmosphere.

There is no challenge in creating a nice, perfect and show room -like interior. There is also no character in such place.

Often, it's just one big chunk of money spent to make someone else's design statement that you then live in.

How about turning it all around and live in YOUR home ! your EVOLVING home.

Take your time to create it by gradually adding pieces you fall in love with and designs that will adapt to your story instead of telling it for you.

I love how some place are just full of character and have a history. It's not necessary to clutter the room with many pieces to create that feel. Often it can be achieved with a very minimalistic approach.

But I think the trick is to really love every piece and give it meaning. It will automatically work for your and with you and people that come to visit will associate everything with you ! There is no better way to make them and off course yourself feel comfortable.

I found a few such places, full of character and yet, quite minimalistic.

"Industrial Chic" This Interior is a beautiful, creative solution of turning a very industrial environment into a cosy and personalised home. It has artistic features on the ceiling and walls, a great combination of different fabrics and woods, and absolutely every piece of furniture is unique and different to the other. well, ...except for the dining chairs maybe :)

A completely empty space has been filled with cream and brown coloured leather and wood, a couple of cosy throws on the sofa and a brilliantly contrasting black arm chair that also works fabulously with the plain black picture frames. Again, a mix of fabric, colours and furniture style brings incredible charm to the room.

This place is one of my favourites. I just love the red-brown leather in combination with grey , beige and some black features spread out through the room. The artwork is minimalistic and works harmoniously with the rest of the interior but feels personal and meaning full. I would probably have more green plants around to make it all feel more alive !

A few more inspirational images of different ways to make it work. Every one of these place feels unique in their own way. And what I love most about them, is the intuitive search for new designs and ideas they drive me to look for.
